NSTW: SCIENCE FOR THE PEOPLE

As part of the National Science and Technology Week Celebration, ABES students joined the celebration as they attend the said event on July 11-15 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.

The Selected ABES participants witnessed state of the art innovation like urban gardening and 3d printing. Also the celebration gives emphasize on Science Journalism and Disaster Preparedness for the youth.

SHAKEDRILL 2017

To test the readiness of the school students, faculty and staff the school participated on the National Earthquake Drill on June 29, 2017. The said activity aims to assess the disaster awareness and response of the school and its community in case of the anticipated “BIG ONE” that is predicted to devastate Metro Manila as the West Valley Fault endangered to move.

The school DRRMC headed by Ernerto Medijar facilitated the drill with the help of the school faculty, School Nurse and School Red Cross. Also the Batang Emergency Team Played a vital role in spreading awareness about natural disasters.

SCHOOL DENGUE PROGRAMS INTENSIFIED

June is Declared by the Department of Health as Dengue Prevention Month. In Partnership with the Department of Education Precautions and awareness were encouraged among schools. With this the School Head Jeanne Rejuso, School Health Coordinator Mark Donald Bagsic and School Nurse Bianca Penaflor supported the Dengue Prevention campaign for SY:2017-2018.

As part of the school and health services partnerships Dengue Vaccination will be scheduled among students. Also responsible fogging will be conducted among schools in Pasay City.

As the School student organization for Dengue Prevention, the Dengue Brigade, the students initiated series of cleanup drives and planted citronella a mosquito repellant as part of the school program on dengue prevention.

WASTE MANAGEMENT STRENGTHENED

In compliance to RA 9003 or the Waste Management act of 2000, Andres Bonifacio Elementary School responds to the need of a sustainable and feasible programs for the environment.  With this the Pasay City DENR Partnered with the school to increase awareness about waste management last June 23, 2017.

The effort intends to lecture the youth on the importance of proper and sustainable waste management. With the help of school based organizations like Ecosavers and YES-O environmental awareness and conservation will be utmost priority for the school community.

Also the Ms. Earth Organization also spearheaded an awareness drive for the environment that happened on June 20, 2017.

SCHOOL ECO-PATHWAY UNVEILED

The beginning of the school year 2017-2018 has never been more exciting as the school unveiled its newly constructed YES-O eco-pathway for students use.

The project was spearheaded by the school’s Science Teachers and cooperative parents. It is a fruit of labor from the concluded Mr. and Ms. Environment 2016 which involves recycling of materials and fashion.

The said pathway connects the school Science Building to the administration building thus protecting the students and teachers from the hazards weather may have brought.
